Principle and Function of two-way cast iron flange plug valve X43W:
The opening and closing part of a plug valve is a plug body with through holes. By rotating 90 degrees, the channel opening on the valve plug is made the same as or separated from the channel opening on the valve body to achieve opening or closing.
The shape of the valve plug of the plug valve can be cylindrical or conical. In the cylindrical valve plug, the channel is generally rectangular, while in the conical valve plug, the channel is trapezoidal. These shapes make the structure of the plug valve lightweight, but at the same time cause certain pressure losses. Plug valves are more suitable for use as cutting off and connecting the medium and for diversion.
However, depending on the nature of use and the erosion resistance of the sealing surface, they can sometimes also be used for throttling. Plug valves are not limited by the installation direction, and the flow direction of the medium can be arbitrary. A plug valve is a fast-switching straight-through valve.
Due to the wiping effect of the movement between the rotary sealing surfaces and the complete prevention of contact with the flowing medium when fully open, it can usually also be used for media with suspended particles. Another important feature of the plug valve is that it is easy to adapt to the multi-channel structure, so that one valve can obtain two, three, or four different flow channels, which can simplify the design of the pipeline system, reduce the number of valves and some connection fittings required in the equipment.
The selection principles of plug valves:
① On the pipelines and equipment of gas, natural gas and HVAC systems, with a nominal diameter not larger than 200mm, packing-type conical plug valves are preferred;
② On the equipment and pipelines of food enterprises such as milk, juice and beer, as well as pharmaceutical factories, it is recommended to select austenitic stainless steel, tight-fitting conical plug valves;
③ For distributing the medium and changing the flow direction of the medium, with a working temperature not higher than 300℃, a nominal pressure PN≤1.6MPa and a nominal diameter not larger than 300mm, multi-pass plug valves are recommended;
④ In the branches of oilfield exploitation, natural gas field exploitation, pipeline transportation, refining and cleaning equipment, with a nominal pressure level not greater than Class300 and a nominal diameter not greater than 300mm, oil-sealed conical plug valves are recommended;
⑤ In the branches of oilfield exploitation, natural gas field exploitation, pipeline transportation, refining and cleaning equipment, with a nominal pressure level not greater than Class7500, a nominal diameter not greater than 900mm and a working temperature not higher than 340℃, oil-sealed conical plug valves are recommended;
⑥ In large-scale chemical industries, in pipelines and equipment containing corrosive media, where it is required to open or close quickly, for media based on nitric acid, polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve-sealed conical plug valves can be selected; for media based on acetic acid, Crl8Nil2M02Ti stainless steel with polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve-sealed conical plug valves can be selected.
